Here at Dead Famous HQ we're proud to be Introducing DEADHEADZ, a collaboration that stretches from Italy to Wales via Bristol drawing out the influences of all involved.
A collection of collaborations from up and coming producers on the label and more importantly friends and headz recorded whilst visiting the Dead Famous studios in Bristol with us the Robosapiens. Jawa's B day,Break The Box's debut gig and a crazy night @ SUMO spring to mind.
We hope you enjoy as much as we did.

A: Cause and Effect - Jawa & Robosapiens

Dead Famous head honchos Robosapiens hook up with long-time Bristol conspirator Jawa , part of the city's 'We Don't Play' collective, to drop an absolute breakbeat belter. Deep, knee-trembling bass and pounding beats combine to make a roof-raising tune that's bound to set the festivals and clubs alight this summer.

AA: Summer Rolls - Robosapiens & Break The Box feat Chico Fresco

On the b-side there's another melting pot of talent on show as Italy's Break The Box returns to Dead Famous to make up this intriguing collaboration alongside Robosapiens and a debut from Sumo promoter and resident Chico Fresco. Warping bass, rolling beats and some crafty vocal sampling make for a proper summertime breaks anthem. Now all we need is the sun!

Haunting female vocals tight drums roll the track along under pinned by a warm throbbing bass this will rock the crowd from the club to the stadium. On the flip the Robosapiens take the track into darker territory adding their acid sensibilties.

DF06: Break The Box

"Right on the money! Will be hammering this in Miami. Summer comes early this year. Must be global warming..."
Jariten SOH

DF05: Robosapiens

A: NEW WORLD ORDER

AA: THE TRUTH

Robosapiens have made a real impact over the last year with original works and remixes gaining high profile support and club plays and DF05 is set to push them even further into the breakbeat limelight. The next installment from one of the UK’s freshest breakbeat duos combines a high-octane Stephen Hawking-sampling dancefloor bullet with a deeper track for the head and feet.

First up is New World Order, a main-room monster that sets driving bass and punchy drums high on the agenda along with warped alien sounding synths. The tune impressed Japan’s ‘Black Building Crew’ so much that up-and-coming graphic designer Taichi Ito has created a stunning video to accompany the track… watch in fear as the Robosapiens pick off the breakbeat old guard one by one in true assassin style to establish the New World Order
Click HERE to see the video.

On the flip The Truth is an altogether deeper and more brooding beast of a tune. Getting just the right blend of darkness and light, the Robosapiens have created an anthem for late-night dancefloors with a warm twisted bassline and rolling drums. Notepads at the ready fact fans - the vocal sample has been liberated from American Gothic, a series as menacing as the tune itself.

As always the record comes with a graphic of someone famous and dead, and time was up for Richard Whiteley. Gone but not forgotten.

DF04: JINX

A: THE RAID - ORIGINAL MIX

Since the early days of illegal parties in warehouses to a field in Somerset we've all been there- unwanted attention from the local constabulary when you're trying to get down... Jinx's answer - spike the police, turn the sound system up and drop this beast!

Fresh from their recent releases on Koma and Bones mighty Burrito imprint and Resin records the Jinx boys provide pure tech badness.

The Raid just keeps rolling with intense analogue builds and steam hammer drops and a sample that will stop the club in its tracks.
With the bass line - Jinx go for the body cavity search!

AA: THE RAID -FUNK THA PIGZ MIX

On the flip the Jinx boys crack out the 303 tighten down the beats, change the flavour and inject some tech funk as they handle remix duties.

The result one hour later your friendly Rozzer has his top off smiling sweetly and wiggling his arse to this rerub – fruity bass and wicked syncopated vocal samples makes sure the boys in blue will be gurning till the sun comes up ………….you never know they might even let the Jinx boys out early for good behaviour.

Already causing a stir everywhere its been dropped and has been an anthem at SUMO Cardiffs best breaks night and has picked up DJ support from Koma And Bones,Metric,Porno Breaks,Mofo,Boombox,Stantons etc.

review

“Right from when the beats kick in on The Raid, you know that this tracks going to offer the listener something a little different. With its relentless beats & cacophony of drugged-up fx & sounds, this track should see the Dead Famous label stamp it’s mark firmly on the world of breaks & beats!! Keep an eye on this excellent label, as from what we’ve heard these guys have got some real gems forthcoming! ”
- Mole & Aya Boombox Records

“Both mixes are great! Totally Monster, Loving it! ”
-Tony Tay Zouk Resident Singapore

“This track is a seriously sick pounder that destroys dance floors! .. its topped of by a very apt breakdown which takes you back to 91 / 92 when the police did nt take kindly to people having the time of their lives in warehouses up and down the country…badass!”
- Move Ya And Steve Lavers Audiobug Records

DF03 :Robosapiens

After their well-received debut 12” on Dead Famous, the Robosapiens are back with another pair of their trademark techy, peak-time tracks. The up-and-coming duo, Jamie Flukes and Steve Kyte, bring with them years of experience behind the decks and involvement in dance music, something that is clearly evident in their production.

A: What's Wrong

WHAT’S WRONG goes straight for the dancefloor jugular… a big rockin’ sound with driving beats and bubbling 303 acid lines, a clever sample of the Breeders’ ‘Cannonball’ and a vocal hook that explores the benefits of chemical enhancement. Having been road-tested by the fellas in all their recent sets, this tune has done the business every time. Gaining support from all the major players

AA: Come On

COME ON brings the warehouse sensibilities of yesteryear bang up to date, a relentless monster that gets heads down and arses up wherever it’s played. A deeper groove paves the way for some proper techno-influenced ‘reach-for-the-lazar’ moments. Lazar not included.

DF02: Pimpwax

A: Can't Stop

AA: It's All Good

Dead Famous Records is pleased to introduce PIMP WAX, an exciting new project from former Propellerheads man Will White and Italy's infamous breaks fiend 5th Suite. This meeting of minds has brought about some seriously funky music, the first 12" being a fine example of their sound. Their reputations go before them - having both shifted quantities of quality breaks - but these tunes speak for themselves. The first track, 'Can't Stop', is an out-and-out funk bomb with all the right ingredients to be a party monster. A few established labels were itching to sign this tune, but the West Country connection sealed the deal for Dead Famous Records, who are unsurprisingly delighted to be bringing Pimp Wax to the public. Taking things a bit sleazier with a hefty electro b-line and catchy-as-fuck vocal line is 'It's All Good', another massive cross-over track that oozes funk with its solid groove and abundance of squeaks and bleeps. These tracks have turned heads when they've been road tested in clubs around Europe and will make an essential addition to any DJs record bag.

DF01 :Robosapines

A: CHASING THE BUZZ

This 12" offers a double whammy of first time goodness - the first, heavily anticipated release from Dead Famous Records and the first of many releases from studio whizzes ROBOSAPIENS. Having exploded onto the breakbeat scene in 2004 with their acid-tinged sets and unique sound, Robosapiens have been slaving away in the studio creating some of the freshest beats around. 'Chasing the Buzz' is a peak-time monster - a hypnotic vocal loop picks you up, the bass wobbles every inch of flesh on your body and then the acid kicks in for pure unadulterated 303 madness.

AA: MONKEY DRUMMER

If you had an infinite number of monkeys and an infinite number of drums, the chances are they still couldn't bang out a tune that rocks as much as Monkey Drummer. As much as we all hate pidgeon-holing of genres and tunes, this certainly gets the ball rolling for 'stadium breaks' - epic precussion and face-melting bass combine to make a unique piece of breakbeat. And with a breakdown that sounds like Animal v Keith Moon on a speed binge, Monkey Drummer is a surefire winner for the clubs.

Review

" Can't believe this is the first release from these guys,
two very different tunes that both work really well"
- Phantom Beats

" Cool, moody atmospheric electro breaks along the lines of Radioactiveman
with an excellent melodic bassline lending from deep house.
Great crossover potential. Love it 8/10."
-Kraymon on "Monkey Drummer"

" This is a fucking cool Record."
- Carl Loben

"A massive opening gambit from this Brizzle Tech Funk label. You are going to be swept off your feet by snarls of huge acid 303, messy funk of bassline, and crunchy rhythms. It's a real eye opener for everyone who lives in dancefloor on weekends and downplays the power of 303.
This tune sets to outdo the Plumps' legendary 303 madness 'TB Reality'!! "
- nuclEAR, Japan
