jinx

Jinx was formed in 1999. Having cut their teeth DJing around the massive Northern free party scene, and influenced by the upcoming Breakstep sound of the time, two friends from Lancaster, UK got together to form a new production duo. Basing their sound on a shared love of Dub, Jungle, Techno and Breaks, they released first single Kutt Free to a warm reception from critics and DJs alike, and capitalised on this success with second release Kreamy Belta -a tune that featured in the sets of some of the sceneļ¾s biggest DJs for over a year. Shortly after this release, however, the partnership disbanded when one member went on to form acclaimed Tech House duo Spincycle. This wasn't the end, though. An unquenchable thirst for breakbeat and a small change of personnel meant that Jinx reformed in early 2005 with sights clearly set on making floor shaking records that would rock the foundations of the UK breaks scene.
After an extended period in production limbo, the Jinx boys new, techier, funked-up sound has led to their first two tunes being snapped up by Koma & Bones for their new Burrito imprint. Two more releases will see the light of day on Audio Bug Records, home of Move Ya and Steve Lavers, and now perhaps the strongest Jinx release yet, The Raid, is their first release on Bristol label Dead Famous.
The results of Joss and Robs collaborations speak for themselves - Uncompromising breakbeat music that hits the dancefloor hard, and with DJ skills to match, these boys know exactly how to push all your breakbeat buttons.
